About The Position

The Lead, Turbine Services is responsible for providing technical leadership and field oversight for turbine maintenance, inspection, repair, and outage execution across commercial nuclear power plants and other power generation facilities. Reporting to the Manager, Turbine Services, this role serves as the on-site technical expert, directing field personnel, coordinating work activities, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with customer specifications and quality standards. The Lead, Turbine Services works closely with customers, project teams, and field specialists to execute complex maintenance activities while promoting a strong safety culture, operational excellence, and exceptional customer service. This role also mentors junior technicians, supports workforce development initiatives, and contributes to continuous improvement efforts across turbine service operations.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Power Plant Technology, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
  • 5–7+ years of experience performing turbine-generator maintenance, inspections, outage services, or power generation maintenance, including demonstrated experience leading field crews or maintenance teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of steam turbines, gas turbines, combustion turbines, generators, auxiliary systems, controls, and precision maintenance practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, schematics, OEM manuals, and work packages.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with experience coordinating cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital reporting tools.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to customer sites.
  • Ability to travel extensively and support extended outage assignments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting commercial nuclear power plants or other power generation facilities.
  • OEM turbine experience with GE Vernova, Siemens Energy, Mitsubishi Power, Westinghouse, or comparable manufacturers.
  • Experience performing turbine inspections, alignments, balancing, vibration analysis, precision measurements, and outage planning.
  • Familiarity with turbine diagnostic and testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of balance-of-plant systems and their interaction with turbine equipment.
  • Previous experience serving as a Site Lead, Field Supervisor, or Lead Turbine Specialist.
  • Familiarity with ASME, ANSI, EPRI, and applicable industry standards.
  • OSHA 30, NCCER, or other relevant safety and technical certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the field execution of turbine maintenance, inspections, repairs, overhauls, and outage activities at customer sites.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to turbine technicians, craft personnel, subcontractors, and field service teams throughout project execution.
  • Coordinate daily work activities to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved work packages, schedules, and quality standards.
  • Review work packages, procedures, engineering drawings, schematics, and OEM technical documentation prior to project execution.
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Turbine Services to support project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and execution strategies.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, field reports, inspection records, and quality documentation.
  • Inspect turbine systems, generators, auxiliary equipment, and associated components to identify hazards, defects, maintenance requirements, or opportunities for equipment improvement.
  • Perform technical inspections and verify workmanship to ensure compliance with customer requirements, plant procedures, OEM specifications, and applicable industry standards.
  • Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action development for equipment or process issues.
  • Assist in responding to urgent equipment issues during outages and maintenance activities.
  • Support audits and quality reviews to verify compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving OEM recommendations, industry standards, and turbine maintenance best practices.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to turbine service personnel during outage and maintenance activities.
  • Mentor and train field personnel while promoting technical development, accountability, and adherence to best practices.
  • Partner with the Manager, Turbine Services and Training Team to support technical and safety training initiatives.
  • Help ensure team members maintain required certifications, qualifications, and safety training.
  • Foster a culture of safety, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Interface directly with customer representatives to communicate project status, technical recommendations, and issue resolution.
  • Build strong working relationships with customers through responsive communication and technical expertise.
  • Support customer meetings, outage planning sessions, and project reviews as requested.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, customer satisfaction, and equipment reliability.
