About The Position

This position serves as an integral role to the Tuition Office. Ongoing collaborations with Financial Aid, Admissions, Advising, Records and Registration, as well as Fiscal Services are key to the success of this position. One must be able to provide customer service in a fast-paced environment by various methods (including in-person, over the phone, email) to ensure Saint Paul College’s service commitment is met. The Accounting Technician will ensure accuracies by providing detailed reconciliations on a daily basis, process daily deposits, and handle various cash, checks, and EFT transactions. Additionally, the Accounting Technician manages various processes appropriately and provide technical fiscal advice and service to students, outside constituents, and internal stakeholders of the college.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in the accounting field (Associate's degree or high in account or business-related field can substitute for 6 months experience).
  • Customer service experience working with a wide range of individuals from diverse communities.
  • Experience working collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to design work procedures and plan, organize and implement work assignments.
  • Ability to analyze financial records and reports, locate errors and recommend solutions to procedural or other problems.
  • Applicant must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States. We are unable to sponsorship or take over sponsorship of employment visa at our institution. The successful candidate under U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations must be able to accept work in the U.S. by the day employment begins.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business-related field
  • Five or more years working with accounts receivable
  • Three or more years of experience creating financial reports, reconciling accounts, or accounting transactions.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and practices sufficient to analyze, interpret, and prepare financial information, records, and reports; locate errors; and recommend solutions to procedural and other fiscal problems.
  • Advanced experience using Access to build and create queries and generate custom reports.
  • Ongoing professional development in intercultural competence and equity.
  • Fluent in additional language(s): Spanish, Russian, Hmong, Somali, American Sign Language.

Responsibilities

  • Process and review financial transactions, ensuring accurate payment handling and recordkeeping while supporting operational and supporting needs.
  • Provide customer service and account support by interpreting policies, resolving billing inquiries, and communicating with students, families, and third-party partners.
  • Manage third-party billing and payment processes, ensuring accurate award administration, fund collection, and account reconciliation.
  • Manage daily cash operations, including reconciliation, deposits, and disbursements, while ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Monitor accounts receivable activities, ensuring accurate account records, payment reconciliation, and financial reporting.
  • Maintain compliance with policies and procedures by developing work processes, advising staff, and ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Perform administrative and operational support activities, including document management, to ensure efficient department operations and effective service delivery.
