About The Position

The Operator ensures machinery is set up, works properly, and conforms with company quality, quantity, and efficiency standards. This role supports the Company’s continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to read and write English.
  • Must be able to work in noisy environment.

  • Strong team and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with internal customers.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, squat, and climb to access all parts of the machine.
  • Able to interpret data and use specified measuring devices.
  • Thorough understanding of mechanics and other properties of machines.
  • Ability to follow written instructions, diagrams.
  • Ability to follow proper safety protocols.
  • Ability to determine whether machinery is working properly based on specifications for expectations such as fixtures, cutting speeds, or feed rates.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certification a plus.
  • Willing to learn to perform repairs to a wide variety of complicated equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform varied set up operations including changing tube mill from one diameter to another, positioning strip, set up and thread mills, properly position tubing seam, adjust tension, set speeds, set temperatures, amps and position of welder, position automatic cut off saw and calibrate Eddy current tester daily.
  • If applicable per mill type, set up, monitor and adjust straighteners and adjoining mills.
  • Set up mill to control seam location.
  • Set up and operate plasma pre heat.
  • Operate mills and auxiliary equipment including TIG splicer, resistance splicer, line marker, Eddy current tester, pyrometer, cut-off saws, tube straighteners, laser mic and bead hammer.
  • Determine mandrel size, line up and adjust mandrel.
  • Change induction coils and graphite blocks in cooling chambers.
  • Inspect and sign off on applicable splices.
  • Perform repairs to a wide variety of complicated equipment (preferred/willing to learn), such as weld problems, malfunctions in pumps, motors, gearboxes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and equipment, compressors and other related equipment.
  • Replace all parts of a mill forge, such as rolls, heat exchanger pump, hammer, mirrors, pumps, shaft bearings and yoke; clean & calibrate the temperature pyrometer.
  • Perform precision maintenance according to specs on equipment to extend life and reduce cost; make determination on what maintenance is needed.
  • Monitor and maintain operator production records including length, measurements, material, heat number, scrap, yield, mill speed and number of pieces.
  • Maintain work area in a clean, neat and orderly manner.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned to ensure efficient department operations in support of corporate objectives.
  • Observe company policies, rules and regulations.
  • Participate in company-wide 6S efforts.
  • Maintain vigilance for export compliance.
  • Contribute to efforts to maintain/improve the Quality Management System.
