About The Position

Johnson Controls is hiring a Tube Fitter Apprentice at its San Antonio, Texas plant. This role offers hands-on manufacturing experience, with work performed under the guidance of experienced professionals while developing skills in tubing installation and electrical systems. The position is on the weekend shift: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, from 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Pay is $17.00 per hour plus a shift premium and overtime. The hourly rate may be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, location, and market data. The role involves bending, forming, laying out, and installing tubing on units, as well as identifying and installing valves or devices. The apprentice must understand and follow safety rules and instructions, maintain a clean and safe work area, and participate actively in a Continuous Improvement Team. The manufacturing environment includes exposure to noise, dirt, dust, indoor and outdoor cold or heat, and hazards associated with heavy equipment and machinery. Requirements

Possess a complete understanding of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) on electrical drawings, as applicable.
Ability to use hand tools, electrical equipment, and a measuring tape.
Some knowledge of electrical systems is required.
Vision corrected to 20/20.
Ability to perform the physical activities listed for the role, including occasionally lifting 50 pounds and frequently standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching, grasping, connecting, pulling, reading prints, exercising judgment, and handling equipment.

Responsibilities

Bend, form, and install tubing on units.
Lay out tubing on units according to blueprints in shop packets.
Identify and install valves and/or devices on units.
Perform housekeeping and other duties as required.
Maintain a clean and safe work area and/or equipment as required.
Actively participate in a Continuous Improvement Team.
Follow safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, as well as written and oral instructions.
