About The Position

The TSDF Technicians Lead works alongside teams performing a variety of operational tasks in material handling and monitoring of hazardous waste in accordance with regulatory requirements. Under the direction of a supervisor or manager, this lead role is responsible and accountable for the safe, secure and proper storage, handling and labeling of all materials, supplies and equipment. Ensures accurate and efficient preparation, loading, distribution and unloading of hazardous materials, supplies and equipment to and from various destinations. May sample, weigh, and record materials handled; inspects hazardous waste production and storage units. In some locations collects, handles and contains waste from decontamination processes. Responds to customer calls for hazardous and non-hazardous response to ensure that sites contaminated with hazardous waste and production by-products are cleaned up in accordance with government regulations.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in the Environmental, emergency response and/or Industrial Services industry.
  • Experience directing the work of field operatives and ensuring customer requirements are met to a high level of satisfaction.
  • Current 40-hour HAZWOPER Training or ability to pass course upon hire.

  • Ability to use specialized equipment, heavy and light, centrifuges may be required for some locations.
  • Skilled using hand and shop tools and instruments.
  • Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
  • Strong, effective, or outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of personnel management, operations, equipment, waste processing and recycling techniques.
  • Knowledge of receiving, purchasing, work orders, special licenses, and DOT training.
  • Ability to operate a handheld bar code scanner for internal recordkeeping system to ensure the safe, effective handling and inventory of containerized wastes.
  • Knowledge, understanding and ability to work in Elevated or Confined Space Entry Required areas as well as follow Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures for some positions.
  • Ability to work a rotating shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • “On-Call” based on the rotating “On-Call” schedule for Emergency Response.
  • May require out-of-town travel. Length of travel will be dependent on service center and on-going projects.
  • Driver’s license, Transportation Worker (TWIC) clearance, or CDL license may be required at some locations.
  • Tank Entry Supervisor in API may be required for some positions.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and trains teams performing work at assigned location(s), to include; landfills, Treatment, Storage & Disposal Facilities (TSDF), TRD, customer facilities, etc., to remediate, transfer, stabilize, dispose of hazardous waste and materials.
  • Distributes daily workload to team members.
  • Ensure all employees perform assigned tasks in compliance with all Company, customer, and federally required safety policies/procedures.
  • Ensures all employees are working in the most productive and cost-effective manner to complete the assigned job/task in the best interest of company profitability.
  • Adapt to ever changing conditions (customer requirements, time schedules, weather, etc.) to see that assignments are completed to customer satisfaction and in the best interest of Company.
  • Provides service to all customers that meets or exceeds customer expectations with regards to the entire customer experience.
  • Professionally and legibly complete, or direct and review completion of all paperwork for the Company and customer.
  • Interact professionally and effectively with customer and other vendor representatives.
  • May be required to be the main point of contact in the field on projects and report back to the manager on daily activities and concerns.
  • Ensures that project work scopes are being met in the field with adherence to health and safety standards and regulatory standards.
  • May review field tasks and develop the safety procedures associated with the scope of work and regulatory standards.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
