At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us challenge the status quo and transform the finance industry together. We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s). Schwab’s Personal Trust Services organization provides personal trust products and services to Schwab clients, including individual investors, beneficiaries, registered investment advisors, and corporate fiduciaries. As a Trust Settlement Officer, you will play a meaningful fiduciary role in helping guide the trust settlement process after the death of a grantor or beneficiary, ensuring assets are collected, reviewed, documented, and distributed in alignment with governing documents, applicable requirements, and firm procedures. In this role, you will manage complex settlement activities that require sound judgment, careful interpretation of legal documents, strong organization, and clear communication with beneficiaries, estate attorneys, executors, personal representatives, tax partners, trust officers, and internal teams. Your ability to assess information, solve problems, prioritize competing deadlines, and collaborate across stakeholders will directly support timely trust closures, accurate administration, and a positive client and beneficiary experience. You will also help coordinate tax-related activities, beneficiary communications, distribution planning, receipt and release documentation, discretionary memorandums, account reviews, asset disposition, and other trust termination efforts. Success in this role requires adaptability, accountability, attention to detail, and a service-oriented mindset as you navigate sensitive family, legal, tax, and fiduciary matters with professionalism and care.
