This role spans from prospecting/marketing to client management. The Trust Relationship Specialist will lead and oversee multiple aspects of the client relationship, including cash management, distributions, contributions, asset allocation, investment actions, client/account maintenance, and client inquiries. This position requires coordination with internal and external teams as necessary. The Specialist will build rapport with clients and intermediaries to maintain positive working relationships, acting as the client advocate to retain, preserve, and deepen existing relationships. This includes overseeing the review, interpretation, and administration of estate and trust documents (trusts, wills, codicils, life insurance policies, partnership agreements) and preparing trust synopses. Planning for and utilizing systems to facilitate the execution of ongoing trust provisions, and overseeing the establishment and execution of required and discretionary trust distributions are key responsibilities. Ensuring trust assets are invested according to trust provisions and the Prudent Investor Rule, and overseeing the administration of special assets (life insurance, mineral interests, real estate, limited partnerships, closely held stock) are also critical. The role coordinates the selection and hiring of outside agents (e.g., real estate brokers, asset valuation services) as needed, and coordinates post-death trust administration, ensuring compliance with trust and estate regulatory requirements. The Trust Relationship Specialist is responsible for trust committee review for investment policy, discretionary requests, distribution ratifications, loan requests, special assets, and interpretation of trust provisions. Coordination with internal and external professionals for estate and income tax compliance and proper trust accounting (including court accountings) is required. The role may also coordinate foundation grant recipient activities and related special reporting. The Specialist will provide team/department support, oversee Relationship Associate tasks and workflow, and attend client/intermediary meetings as appropriate. Meeting recurring regulatory requirements for trust companies and registered investment advisors, including trust committee review, is essential.
