Under administrative direction, this role administers personal trust accounts using specialized knowledge and skills obtained through experience, specialized training, or certification. The position leads defined work or projects of broad scope and complexity, resolves or recommends solutions to complex problems, and requires regular contact with senior management and other internal customers to identify, research, and resolve accounting issues and provide comprehensive solutions. Key responsibilities include administering trusts in accordance with statutes and regulations, participating in income tax planning and preparation, and explaining tax matters to beneficiaries, Financial Advisors, and other relevant parties. The Trust Officer interacts with Financial Advisors and clients to define goals, works with investment officers on asset allocation and portfolio changes, and engages with beneficiaries and their advisors in the personal trust administration process. The role may involve voting as a member of the Administrative Committee, exercising discretionary personal trust administrative authority, and assisting New Business Development personnel and Financial Advisors in the sales process through meetings, calls, and seminars. Additionally, the Trust Officer answers general Financial Advisor inquiries regarding estate planning, trust services, and estate taxes, and may lead the work of others, coaching and mentoring less experienced staff. Developing and maintaining strong relationships across all organizational levels and reviewing assignment progress with executive leadership are also key aspects of the role.
