About The Position

As a Trust Officer at UMB, you will build and enhance long-term client relationships through exceptional customer service. This includes anticipating client needs, maintaining clear communication, conducting effective client meetings, and meeting client service level standards. You will provide proper fiduciary administration for all assigned accounts, including complex situations involving probate estates, conservatorships, personal trusts (inter vivos and testamentary), custody, agency, IRA, and other designated accounts.

Requirements

  • College degree
  • 10 years of technical trust and planning experience
  • Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation
  • Demonstrates successful ability to sell; competitive and results oriented
  • Demonstrates Investment knowledge and understanding
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of Trust and Bank products and services (i.e., investments, insurance, brokerage, private banking, retirement planning)
  • Demonstrates proven problem solving, dispute resolution and assistance with litigation management
  • Demonstrates ability to perform highly autonomous decision-making and inform management as needed
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain current knowledge of company policies and procedures, state and federal laws and regulations
  • Demonstrates high proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with an ability to develop and cultivate internal and external relationships

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and manage internal and external relationships to increase revenue from assigned accounts through quality client service, leading to referrals for new business, account upgrades, direct sales, and referrals for other bank products and services.
  • Ensure compliance with the Bank's fiduciary duties in the administration of estate, trust, IRA, and custody accounts according to directives in wills, trust documents, investment management, IRA, or custody agreements, as well as applicable laws, statutes, regulations, and UMB policies and procedures.
  • Provide solution-oriented planning for clients and coordinate wealth strategy planning goals and objectives.
  • When appropriate and for accounts without an assigned Portfolio Manager, provide investment management services, including assessing appropriate risk levels, delivering high-level investment updates, and offering portfolio advice.
  • Maintain current knowledge of UMB policies and procedures, state and federal laws, and regulations.
