About The Position

The Trust Assistant assists customers and employees with a variety of issues related to the trust department. This position provides frontline assistance to trust department customers and assists Trust Officers with the administrative duties for trust accounts, including regular client communications.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, etc.
  • Equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 12 to 18 months related experience and/or training, and 1 to 6 months related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read a limited number of words and recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers; ability to write and speak simple sentences as a means for basic communication.
  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, notes, letters and memos; ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.
  • Basic: 10-Key, Accounting, Alphanumeric Data Entry, Contact Management, Database, Presentation/PowerPoint, Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and assignments in a changing environment with competing priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Basic knowledge of principal and income accounting.
  • Develop proficiency with the trust accounting system.

Responsibilities

  • Answer phones and greet visitors, clients, centers of influence and prospects.
  • Completes a broad variety of administrative tasks for officers and managers.
  • Maintaining well-organized records and account files, including scanning and filing.
  • Maintains a very high level of confidentiality in all matters related to internal and external clients, prospects and centers of influence.
  • Corresponds with clients, centers of influence and prospects while maintaining a professional yet personable level of communication and interaction.
  • Facilitate and coordinate trust marketing events as approved by the Senior Trust Officer.
  • Resolve customer issues/concerns with online access and trust account systems.
  • May attend meetings with officers as necessary.
  • Provides assistance with special projects as assigned.
  • Complete required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned.
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
