About The Position

The Truss Plant Mechanic is responsible for preventive maintenance, repairs, and installation of truss production equipment in Sunpro truss facilities, under the direction of the shop supervisor. The role helps keep equipment in excellent working condition, minimizes production downtime, supports a safe work environment, and may assist with other shop and delivery duties as needed. The position is based in Sugar City, Idaho, reports to the Truss Foreman, and may require travel to Sunpro’s other truss locations.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Attention to and commitment to safety.
Ability to work well with others in a team environment and follow instructions.
Ability to work long hours and service all equipment.
Ability to meet performance objectives in a time-sensitive, quality-centered environment.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Initiative and reliability with minimal supervision.
Practical mathematics and measuring skills.
General mechanical background or aptitude.
Minor welding abilities.
Ability to move at least 50 pounds.
Medical card and an insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

Visualize, fulfill, and implement the company vision and core values.
Keep all truss equipment in excellent working condition to avoid production downtime and delays.
Perform minor electrical repairs, including repairs to electronic controls, minor welding repairs, and equipment and plant maintenance repairs.
Check and change oils and properly lubricate equipment.
Maintain tools needed to perform the job.
Maintain a medical card and an insurable driving record.
Ensure a safe and healthful work environment and offer training on equipment maintenance best practices.
Travel to all truss locations as needed.
Assist in other shop positions as needed, including table builder, sawyer, saw helper, moving or catching trusses, operating a forklift to move trusses and lumber in the yard, and delivering trusses and other items to job sites.
