About The Position

Lakeside Foods is hiring a Plant Mechanic to help keep production equipment operating efficiently and maintain the facility. The role performs mechanical and fabrication updates, helps improve production processes, and handles minor repairs and maintenance on machinery in an assigned area. The mechanic also trains and supervises seasonal employees, addresses minor personnel problems, and supports broader maintenance work such as machine repair and overhaul, cleaning, constructing walkways and work platforms, and installing processing equipment.

The position is based in Belgium, Wisconsin. The off-season schedule is four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday. During the production season from July through November, scheduling is flexible and overtime is available.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months to one year of related experience and/or training.
• Possess a complete set of tools for industrial maintenance.
• General knowledge of gas and arc welding, cutting and threading pipe, bolt and thread sizes, fastening pulleys and sprockets on shafts, and adjusting conveyors.
• Positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the efficient flow of product through the assigned area.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on machinery in the assigned area.
• Train seasonal employees in the proper, safe, and efficient operation of assigned machinery.
• Supervise seasonal employees in their day-to-day duties.
• Handle minor personnel problems and refer major problems to the Supervisor.
• Assist with maintenance activities, including machine repair and overhaul, cleaning, building walkways and work platforms, and installing new processing equipment.
