About The Position
Nelson Truss Inc is seeking to hire a Truss Assembler to work in our Edgerton Truss plant. This is a first shift position, Monday through Friday from 6:00am – 2:30pm (6:00am - 3:30pm during our busy season).
Requirements
- Basic carpentry knowledge
- Ability to read and follow engineered drawings
- Basic understanding of lumber sizes/grades/types
- Ability to use trade tools (such as saws, hammers, squares, tape measures, etc.)
- Basic understanding and use of arithmetic along with ability to use a calculator
- Ability to work in a team environment.
Nice To Haves
- Forklift experience is beneficial, but not required
Responsibilities
- Assist in the construction and assembly of metal plated wood trusses using jig systems such as rolling gantry table and hand press systems.
- Lift and handle dimensional lumber of varying sizes and lengths.
- Climb on to jig systems to arrange material properly.
- Retrieve metal connector plates per shop drawings and place in proper locations for building trusses.
- Operate forklift to move lumber carts, trash, etc.
- Mark trusses with tag numbers.
- Use metal strap banders to tie truss batches together.
- Re-stock plates, lumber carts, pallets, etc.
- Perform general area clean-up duties.
