About The Position

Nelson Truss Inc is seeking to hire a Truss Assembler to work in our Edgerton Truss plant. This is a first shift position, Monday through Friday from 6:00am – 2:30pm (6:00am - 3:30pm during our busy season). Nelson-Young Lumber is a family-owned and operated business, founded in 1913, with third, fourth, and fifth generation family members actively involved in the business. Nelson Truss Inc is a component of Nelson-Young Lumber and is a manufacturer of high-quality roof truss systems. We are one of the area's largest dealers of Anderson windows and have the expertise to help with any building or window project, large or small.

Requirements

Basic carpentry knowledge
Ability to read and follow engineered drawings
Basic understanding of lumber sizes/grades/types
Ability to use trade tools (such as saws, hammers, squares, tape measures, etc.)
Basic understanding and use of arithmetic along with ability to use a calculator
Ability to work in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

Forklift experience is beneficial, but not required

Responsibilities

Assist in the construction and assembly of metal plated wood trusses using jig systems such as rolling gantry table and hand press systems.
Lift and handle dimensional lumber of varying sizes and lengths.
Climb on to jig systems to arrange material properly.
Retrieve metal connector plates per shop drawings and place in proper locations for building trusses.
Operate forklift to move lumber carts, trash, etc.
Mark trusses with tag numbers.
Use metal strap banders to tie truss batches together.
Re-stock plates, lumber carts, pallets, etc.
Perform general area clean-up duties.
