About The Position

The Trucking Coordinator supervises truck drivers, carrying out responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. This includes interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and resolving problems. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with 1-3 months of related experience or an equivalent combination. Strong communication, mathematical, reasoning, and computer skills (Spreadsheet and Word Processing software) are necessary. A valid Class A CDL driver's license and medical card are mandatory, along with a working knowledge of chick delivery equipment. The position involves overnight travel and the flexibility to drive solo or with a co-driver. Physical demands include sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, and occasional standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Employees must frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds, with specific vision abilities required. The work environment involves frequent exposure to vibration and occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes, chemicals, outside weather, and electrical shock risks, with moderate noise levels.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Must have a current and valid Class A CDL drivers license and medical card.

Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
Occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

Directly supervises 2-20 employees, the truck drivers.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition.
Maintains driver log according to DOT regulations.
Maintain DOT driver qualification files.
Loads and unloads truck.
Clean and sanitize trucks per bio-security requirements.
Oversee maintenance and repairs of trucking fleet.
Report and investigate accidents involving company trucks.
Confers with department heads concerning such problems as accident rates and abuse of equipment, and recommends measures to improve safety records and to conserve equipment.
Follow company policy and meet or exceed established procedures regarding bio-security, animal welfare, safety, ISO, strain security, harassment and discrimination, drug and alcohol, and email/internet policy.
Attendance is expected and required during normal working hours or during the assigned working schedule determined by the supervisor or manager.
