About The Position
The Truck Shop Mechanic maintains and repairs the company’s commercial vehicles and other company vehicles. The role includes diagnosing vehicle issues, completing repairs, coordinating routine maintenance, and maintaining service records. The mechanic works the second shift, Sunday through Thursday, from 3:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., with some Friday or Saturday work. The position requires working in varied environments, including cold, moist, hot, and dusty conditions. The employee will be trained to operate a forklift.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of automotive mechanics, including gas and diesel engines and manual and automatic transmissions.
- Good attendance.
- Availability to work any shift.
- Must be physically qualified according to FMCSA requirements and complete a DOT physical.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems with all company vehicles.
- Must have own basic tools.
Responsibilities
- Repair or replace damaged or malfunctioning vehicle parts and mechanical units.
- Maintain effective maintenance programs, policies, and procedures.
- Schedule routine maintenance.
- Maintain records of services performed.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with company vehicles.
- Understand and follow LOTO procedures.
- Communicate with drivers about vehicle issues.
- Follow written and verbal instructions.
- Comply with company and safety policies.
- Complete training to operate a forklift.
