About The Position

Maintains diesel- and gasoline-powered equipment and trucks of all makes and models. The mechanic inspects and diagnoses vehicles, performs preventive maintenance, repairs and replaces components and systems, makes adjustments and alignments, verifies performance, and maintains service records. The role also involves keeping shop equipment and supplies ready, managing repair costs, and keeping technical knowledge current.

Requirements

• Must have own tools.
• CDL required, or willingness to obtain one within six months of hire.
• Good mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles and conduct diagnostic tests to determine condition and identify worn or damaged parts.
• Complete preventive maintenance schedules, install component and part upgrades, control corrosion, and perform winterization procedures.
• Repair, adjust, overhaul, assemble, disassemble, and replace vehicle assemblies, components, parts, and systems, including power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emissions, brakes, steering, and hydraulics.
• Complete machine shop operations and make adjustments and alignments to vehicle mechanisms and systems.
• Verify vehicle performance through test drives and adjustment of controls and systems.
• Test engines and safety and combustion-control standards to comply with federal and state vehicle requirements.
• Clean, wash, and paint vehicles to maintain their appearance.
• Record services and repairs in vehicle records.
• Keep shop equipment operating by following instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and arranging repairs.
• Control costs by using warranties and evaluating service and parts options.
• Inventory shop stock, place orders, and verify receipt of supplies.
• Maintain job knowledge through educational opportunities and by reading technical and regulatory publications.
• Accept ownership of new and different requests and explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
