About The Position

The Truck Shop Mechanic will diagnose, repair, and maintain all trucks, refrigerated trailers, food grade tanker trailers, and forklifts. This role is responsible for driving the Litehouse culture through company core values and providing outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers. The mechanic will develop and maintain effective relationships through collaboration and consistent timely communication, helping to uphold a "Team Member" environment by supporting others with positive behavior.

Requirements

  • 2-year certificate from college or technical school; 3 to 5 years verifiable related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in equipment repair field
  • CDL, Air Braking Systems, Forklift Repair certifications
  • Experience in use of hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power and pneumatic tools, welding equipment, jacks, and hoists
  • Ability to read and interpret safety regulations, repair manuals, instructional text, and procedural manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships with all contacts inside and outside of the company
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills with ability to express ideas effectively and efficiently
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements
  • Must be able to pass a background check

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and advanced maintenance on transportation related rolling stock for purpose of safety
  • Inspect all braking systems, steering mechanisms, and wheel bearings to ensure proper operating conditions
  • Diagnose malfunctioning equipment for repair recommendations regarding vehicle warranty
  • Determine vehicle and equipment condition by conducting inspections, diagnostics checks, and identifying worn or damaged parts
  • Maintain vehicle repair records in truck shop software program
  • Schedule repairs by prioritization, includes warranty work scheduling
  • Maintain in shop parts supply, creates purchase orders, work orders, as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
  • Adhere to Food Safety policies and report food safety and quality concerns to their supervisor
  • Other activities and duties as assigned
