About The Position

Litehouse Foods is seeking a skilled Truck Shop Mechanic to join our team! This role is based in Sandpoint, ID, and operates on a Tuesday - Saturday shift from 7am - 3:30pm. The pay range is $31.81/hr - $35.34/hr. As a Truck Shop Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing trucks, refrigerated trailers, food-grade tankers, and forklifts to ensure our transportation fleet operates safely and efficiently, keeping our products moving.

Requirements

  • Technical certificate in Diesel Technology, Heavy Equipment Repair, Automotive Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience repairing and maintaining heavy trucks, trailers, forklifts, or commercial fleet equipment.
  • Class A CDL, Air Brake Certification and Forklift Repair required upon hire.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, brakes, suspension, electrical systems, hydraulics, and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools, welding equipment, and shop machinery.
  • Ability to read repair manuals, inspection reports, and technical documentation while maintaining accurate maintenance records.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Tanker Endorsement and Forklift Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair trucks, refrigerated trailers, food-grade tanker trailers, forklifts, and other transportation equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and advanced mechanical repairs to ensure equipment operates safely and reliably.
  • Conduct diagnostic testing to identify worn or damaged components and recommend appropriate repairs, including warranty-related work.
  • Coordinate repairs with outside service providers, monitor repair progress, and communicate updates with internal teams.
  • Maintain parts inventory, create purchase and work orders, and ensure accurate maintenance records in compliance with DOT and FMCSA requirements.
  • Promote a safe work environment while supporting fleet reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
