About The Position

A Truck Installation Technician at Reading Truck works under the direction of the Shop Supervisor to install specialty truck equipment, including service utility bodies, stake bodies, dump bodies, hitches, and other commercial truck accessories. The role involves following safety rules and PPE requirements, installing and mounting equipment, and training with other mechanics as needed. Other duties may be assigned by a Supervisor or Manager.

Reading Truck has more than 65 years of industry leadership in manufacturing, distributing, and enhancing work truck bodies. It describes itself as the world’s largest upfitter of work trucks, with more than 20 locations across North America. A $2,250 sign-on bonus is offered to qualified technicians hired at levels II–IV.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of welding skills with metal and aluminum.
• At least 2 years of electrical wiring experience.
• Ability to build schematics.
• Independent ability to troubleshoot.
• Ability to operate power hand tools and have basic tools.

Nice To Haves

• Basic welding experience is helpful.
• Knowledge and experience with complex hydraulics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules and comply with all PPE requirements.
• Install truck bodies, plows, and commercial truck accessories.
• Mount hitches, shelves, drawers, ladder racks, mud flaps, and related equipment.
• Train with other mechanics as needed.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.
