About The Position
This position is responsible for assisting in picking up donations by riding in a Salvation Army truck. This includes lifting, carrying, and/or hauling donations into the truck and unloading them. The Truck Helper also assists the driver by navigating to destinations.
Requirements
- Six months experience lifting and hauling heavy items such as appliances or furniture OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Valid State Drivers License
Responsibilities
- Rides in Salvation Army truck on scheduled route to pickup donated items.
- Inspects donated items according to established policies and procedures for usability.
- Explains policy to customers regarding types of items that can be accepted.
- Packs items in truck to maximize use of space, protects items from damage, and ensures safety.
- Prepares donation receipts for customers.
- Maintains good relationships with donors and promote favorable image of The Salvation Army.
