About The Position

To transport product over public roadways by means of a truck and trailer combination safely and efficiently. This role involves operating a truck and various trailer types (end dump, hopper bottom, tanker, or box trailer) to move product to different locations. The driver will also be responsible for unloading product from tanker or end dump trailers and rinsing out blood tanks. Additionally, the position requires completing all DOT and company forms, participating in team activities and development, and understanding Simmons Operating systems principles. The role also includes performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years over the road driving a truck/trailer combination required.
• Current Class A, CDL drivers’ license.
• Current DOT physical.
• Ability to obtain tanker endorsement for tank trailers.
• Tanker endorsement required.
• Ability to pick up and carry medium weight up to 50lbs.
• Ability to work in a wet, noisy, humid, hot, and cold environment that has an unpleasant odor.
• Ability to hook and unhook trailers, including climbing on truck to hook up hoses or lines, hand cranking trailer dollies, tarp and untarp trailers with a hank crank up to 6 trailers a shift.
• Seat belt when operating truck.

Nice To Haves

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Military experience is valued.

Responsibilities

• Participate as a member of the Team, fostering cohesiveness and resolving issues.
• Maintain familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems and understand the role in supporting these systems.
• Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
