A permanent appointment requires successfully competing in a Civil Service Examination. The position is with San Francisco Public Works, a department that designs and manages civic construction, cleans and maintains the public right of way, maintains civic buildings, paves roads, repairs bridges and public stairways, and performs other public services. Public Works reports an annual operating budget of $453 million, an active capital portfolio exceeding $3 billion, and a workforce of more than 1,700 employees. Applicants must provide a copy of a valid Class B or Class A driver’s license with a current Medical Certificate and a complete, current DMV driving-record printout. The DMV printout must be dated within one month of the date requested and show “End” on its final page. A good driving record is required. The position also requires a California driver’s license without restrictions that would prevent performance of the job’s essential functions.
