About The Position

This position is based at the Integrated Service Center in Plainfield, IN, with a rotating schedule and base hours of 9 AM to 5:30 PM. The Truck Driver is responsible for loading, transporting, and delivering/unloading IU Health supplies and equipment to various IU Health facilities using a box truck. This role handles same-day routes and deliveries, ensuring trucks are prepared and depart on time. The driver will also assist with analyzing routes for optimization, inspect vehicles for safety concerns before departure, and maintain thorough delivery log documentation. Additionally, the position involves using a Warehouse Management System or ERP Software for tasks such as cycle counts, picking, put away, and shipping functions, as well as preparing bills of lading. The driver must report quality and safety concerns promptly, troubleshoot issues in real-time, and escalate concerns as needed. Training team members on routes and safety checks is also part of the role, along with coordinating vehicle preventive maintenance schedules and maintaining maintenance records.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Indiana driver's license
  • Material Handling Safety Training certification within 2 weeks of hire date
  • Heavy pushing and pulling
  • Continuous ability to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist
  • Continuous ability to lift up to 20 pounds from waist to over-the-head routinely
  • Continuous ability to carry up to 25 pounds
  • 5-7 years of related experience
  • Experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Ability to operate manual and motorized material handling equipment
  • Long periods of standing

  • Previous driving experience strongly preferred
