About The Position

Thompson Hardwoods Inc. is seeking an experienced Log Yard Truck Driver to operate log trucks within its sawmill facility in Hazlehurst, Georgia. This hourly position transports logs safely and efficiently throughout the yard to support mill operations. A CDL is not required because the work takes place within the yard, but prior log-truck operating experience is mandatory.

Requirements

• Previous experience driving log trucks.
• Strong understanding of log yard safety practices.
• Ability to operate equipment safely in a fast-paced industrial environment.
• Dependability and a strong attendance record.
• Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
• Ability to climb in and out of the truck multiple times per shift.
• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
• Ability to work safely around heavy machinery.

Responsibilities

• Operate log trucks within the sawmill yard to transport logs to designated areas.
• Safely maneuver in tight spaces around equipment, log decks, and other vehicles.
• Assist with staging and organizing logs for production.
• Conduct pre-shift equipment inspections and report maintenance issues.
• Follow yard traffic patterns and safety regulations.
• Communicate with loaders, operators, and supervisors to ensure a smooth workflow.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
