About The Position

This position is for current employees within the Solid Waste Department. The role involves operating heavy equipment, including tractor/trailer semi-trucks, skid steers, front-end loaders, and tractors, to transport solid waste and leachate. Responsibilities also include daily inspection and routine repair of equipment, road maintenance, assisting the landfill manager with office functions, and filling in for landfill operators during vacations. The position is Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and is eligible for Clay County’s benefit package, with opportunities for career development and personal growth.

Requirements

One-year Certification from a college or tech school in Heavy Equipment Operation or related field.
1-3 years of prior work-related experience
Class A CDL
Must be a current employee in the Solid Waste Department
Successful completion of a background check

Responsibilities

Driving Truck
Operation of heavy equipment including tractor/trailer semi-trucks, skid steers, front-end loaders and tractors to transport solid waste and leachate.
Responsible for day-to-day inspection and routine repair of equipment. This includes oil changes, filter replacement, lubrication, change flat tires and replace lights.
Maintain roads, spraying weeds, placing riprap, cutting brush and trees and placing waste in proper disposal area.
Assist the landfill manager in office functions and fill in for landfill operators when they are on vacation.
Other duties as assigned.
