About The Position

Clay County is now accepting applications to be considered for a Variable Hour (Part-Time) Truck Driver with the Solid Waste Department. This position will average less than 19 hours per week. The starting salary ranges from $24.43 to $27.87 per hour, with a full salary range of $24.43 to $33.86 per hour. For those with a Class A License, the starting rate of pay is $27.87 per hour. The shifts are Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, with occasional shifts on some Saturdays. This is a non-exempt position.

Requirements

• One-year Certification from a college or tech school in Heavy Equipment Operation or related field.
• 1-3 years of prior work-related experience
• Class A Driver’s License
• Successful completion of a background check
• Clay County Application must be submitted for all County positions.

Responsibilities

• Driving Truck
• Operation of heavy equipment including tractor/trailer semi-trucks, skid steers, front-end loaders and tractors to transport solid waste and leachate.
• Responsible for day-to-day inspection and routine repair of equipment. This includes oil changes, filter replacement, lubrication, change flat tires and replace lights.
• Maintain roads, spraying weeds, placing riprap, cutting brush and trees and placing waste in proper disposal area.
• Assist the landfill manager in office functions and fill in for landfill operators when they are on vacation.
• Other duties as assigned.
