About The Position

The Short Haul Truck Driver is responsible for a wide range of tasks including loading, unloading, sorting, staging and transporting products, shipping returns, and performing general duties and maintenance around the warehouse and grounds. This role requires operating a forklift and other material handling equipment, preparing and completing orders for delivery or pickup, and transporting loads from the warehouse to customer locations safely and efficiently. The driver will also receive and process warehouse stock products, inspect products for defects, and accurately maintain Electronic Logging Device (ELD) records. Maintaining a clean and safe working area and vehicle is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

Ability to communicate in both the written and spoken language of English to a level that will allow the safe and effective performance of the job.
Ability to read, interpret, and distinguish road signage.
Ability to utilize GPS and maps to safely manage time and efficiency of the transportation of goods.
Ability to operate various material handling tools such as powered industrial trucks, pallet jacks, etc.
Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without direct supervision.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Ability to maintain effectiveness and composure in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work effectively with people across different teams, departments, and physical locations.
Current valid Class A CDL with clean driving record.
Ability to obtain and maintain DOT medical card.
Agree to the company driving policies that apply to company owned/leased vehicle or personal vehicle as applicable.
Possess and maintain a valid driver license and be a minimum of 21 years of age.
Maintain an acceptable driving record, as evidenced by completion of a baseline motor vehicle record check and ongoing monitoring.
When driving a personal vehicle on behalf of the company, must provide a copy of the declaration page from personal auto insurance that shows the policy dates and minimum coverage amounts ($300,000 bodily injury per accident/$100,000 property damage per accident or if driving less than 5 hours/200 miles a year $50,000 bodily injury per accident/$10,000 property damage per accident or the state minimum, whichever is more). This requirement is initially and then annually thereafter.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of one year of experience loading and unloading in warehouse environment preferred.
Previous experience with inventory software, databases, and systems preferred.

Responsibilities

Comply with all safety, quality, and warehouse regulations.
Obey all traffic laws and Department of Transportation regulations.
Perform safety checks on all trucking equipment before and after each departure.
Report any mechanical issues right away to Supervisor.
Represent the company and the trucking industry in a professional manner.
Safely operate forklift and other material handling equipment while loading, unloading, and moving materials in the warehouse.
Prepare and complete orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule (load, pack, wrap, label, ship/transport).
Transport loads from warehouse to customer location in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
Receive and process warehouse stock products (pick, unload, label, store).
Inspect product for defects/damages and report issues to Supervisor.
Accurately maintain Electronic Logging Device (ELD) records.
Keep clean and safe working area and vehicle.
