About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Part-Time Non-CDL Truck Driver in Kalamazoo, MI — offering weekly pay and a driving career you can feel good about. This position involves delivering SOLO within an 80-mile radius, primarily handling US Mail freight. The trucks are 26' straight trucks, 36 months or newer, and equipped with rolling carts and lift gates. Ryder provides 24/7 roadside maintenance and drivers fuel up at over 800 maintenance facilities nationwide. Drivers are considered the Captain, with protected jobs and the authority to make safety decisions. Ryder also offers a program where they will purchase your truck and support you to become a company driver.

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Minimum of 6 months of verifiable driving experience
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Must have verifiable driving experience (must be in like equipment if position being applied for is operating a straight truck or box truck): 6 Months experience in the past 3 years, OR 2 years' experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years' experience within the last 10 years
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
• Must be Registered for Military draft
• Selective Service registration for males born after December 31, 1959, unless there is a legal exemption
• A secondary background screen - Federal Level 2 conducted by the USPS to allow access to premises and/or to provide contractual services

Responsibilities

• Safely driving a vehicle within and requires compliance with safety regulations, continuous training and customer service.
• Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
• Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
• Maintaining accurate records
• Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
• Other tasks as assigned
