About The Position

Operates heavy-duty trucks for the transportation of equipment, construction materials or refuse. This role involves inspecting trucks and equipment, performing minor maintenance and repairs, and maintaining daily logs and reports. The driver will transport refuse, operate heavy machinery like scrapers, compactors, graders, and dozers for landfill operations, and weigh vehicles while maintaining records.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of formal training and/or experience in truck driving.
• Valid New Mexico Class B Drivers License.
• Ability to maintain a valid New Mexico Class B Drivers License.
• Ability to obtain a Class A license within three (3) months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Working knowledge of truck operating systems.
• Working knowledge of minor vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions.
• Ability to maintain logs and prepare reports.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetical computations.

Responsibilities

• Inspects trucks and equipment prior to and during operation.
• Performs minor maintenance of equipment, including cleaning and washing.
• Performs flat and equipment repair.
• Performs brake inspections and adjustments.
• Maintains daily logs.
• Prepares reports as needed.
• Transports refuse from transfer station to landfill.
• Operates scraper to haul dirt to cover refuse.
• Operates refuse compactor.
• Operates grader to maintain roads in and surrounding landfill.
• Operates dozer to dig and cover as needed.
• Weighs commercial and non-commercial vehicles using landfill.
• Maintains records of activity.
