About The Position

This role requires a valid CDL and is responsible for safely moving large hazmat trailers in tight yard spaces to support daily operations. The position demands strong driving skills, attention to safety, and the ability to carefully maneuver and position trailers in a fast-paced environment. The hours are 10:00pm - 6:30am Monday through Friday. The pay is $26.64 + $0.75 shift differential (raise to $27.37 July 2026) + quarterly bonus, with a bi-weekly pay schedule. The location is 7501 Page Ave St. Louis, MO. This is a Direct, Full-time, Union hire type.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Current and valid Missouri CDL (A) license.
  • Manual dexterity and good peripheral vision.
  • Basic math, writing, and data entry skills - high school equivalent.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment, as needed.
  • Ability to read scales.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to move trailers in tight/crowded spaces.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, safety warning labels, and machine instruction manuals.
  • Must hold a valid Missouri CDL license or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Class C CDL License and/or (hazmat/tanker certifications).
  • Prior experience with manual move tracking using a two-way-radio.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with team members.
  • Experience performing basic truck maintenance.
  • Ability and/or experience to operate electric forklifts as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operate standard highway and industrial trucks on company property.
  • Eventual movement or delivery to local STERIS facilities given the appropriate certification is obtained.
  • Regular movement of trailers from blocked positions at the discretion of supervisor(s).
  • Exercise caution to avoid damaging material or property while operating equipment and must always exercise caution for the safety of other employees and the general public.
  • Load and/or unload materials on company-operated trucks as needed.
  • Moving and loading hazardous waste, as directed by the supervisor.
  • Use proper material handling techniques either on company, customer, or supplier property.
  • If applicable, use electric forklift or other PIT equipment to unload/load if necessary.
  • Daily care of equipment in charge, such as cleaning the equipment, checking oil, water, and battery, and entering this information onto log sheets.
  • Responsible for adding these items as needed.
  • Maintain written and/or electronic records as required by management (i.e., cGMP and ISO procedures).
  • Operate two-way-radio with leadership to communicate lot moves and updates.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and surrounding work area at all times.
