About The Position

This position is responsible for the transportation, loading, and unloading of clean and soiled laundry. The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class “D” Driver’s License.
  • DOT Medical Card through the Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Three (3) years driving experience with a vehicle of less than 26,000 lbs size.
  • Must have multi-tasking abilities.
  • Must use good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to efficiently work as a member of a team and must relate well with others.
  • All drivers must be able to travel, read maps and maintain travel logs.

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Prior driving experience with Laundry helpful

Responsibilities

  • Maintains records, to include travel logs and mapped plans, for any/all transports.
  • Completes and maintains a Vehicle Condition Checklist with each use of the vehicle.
  • Maintains all transportation records according to state and federal regulations.
  • Verifies routine preventive maintenance schedules and checklists are completed.
  • Performs routine pre and post trip maintenance on the vehicle.
  • Performs cleaning of both the interior and exterior of the vehicle and trailers.
  • Conducts pre-service site visits as needed to ensure a safe travel and delivery plan.
  • Must use good interpersonal communication skills while interacting with customers.
  • Creates and executes safety policies in compliance with Linen Service and vehicle vendor guidelines.
  • Complies to and submits all documentation in compliance with policies.
  • Drives truck to transport and deliver clean and soiled laundry.
  • Maintains radio and/or telephone contact with Manager/Director or other designee to receive instructions or to be dispatched to another location.
  • Follows predetermined schedule of pick-up and delivery.
  • Positions blocks and ties ropes around items to secure cargo for transport.
  • Operates equipment on vehicle to load, unload, or disperse cargo or materials.
  • Reports any damaged or broken equipment to Manager/Director immediately.
  • Performs loading and unloading truck manually as required.
  • Delivers to designated drop off area.
  • Works in laundry area and/or sort linen as needed.
