This is a seasonal position, you can use your winters off to travel, hunt, fish or for other activities you enjoy while your benefits continue year-round. This position is responsible to operate and maintain straight truck or tractor-trailer equipment to transport material to designated location in a timely manner. Will need to display a professional and courteous attitude with customers and team members. May also operate loader to load material into truck box.

Requirements

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to use tablets, CBs, and other electronic devices to maintain logs and communications
Able to work independently and under time constraints.
General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent
A CDL Class A (tractor-trailer) or CDL Class B (straight truck) license.
Must have and maintain medical card and acceptable driving record and required endorsements
Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime, possible nights and some Saturdays.

Nice To Haves

Preference given for experience driving a belly dump, lowboy, lowboy, tanker or straight truck
2-5 years construction driving experience

Responsibilities

Safely operate Class A or B truck to transport asphalt or aggregate to job site often times driving on uneven or unfinished surface
Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition
Maintains driver log according to ICC regulations as required
May operate loader to load aggregate into truck box
Daily maintenance of equipment such as cleaning truck inside and out, greasing, oiling, brakes, lights and any other maintenance instructed to perform
Recognize surroundings and practice traffic awareness to maintain a safe environment
Assist with plant maintenance, repairs, set up and take downs
Tarp load when needed
Clean spilled material/buildup off box (spill chutes, belts, side boards, etc.)
Verify that gates are closed
Complete load tickets
Assist construction crews while waiting to unload
Spread product
Maintain proper information in truck cab pouch
Report information accurately and completely on daily timecards, truck cab information and other needed paperwork
Ensure MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
Perform other duties as assigned.
