This is a seasonal position, you can use your winters off to travel, hunt, fish or for other activities you enjoy while your benefits continue year-round. This position is responsible to operate and maintain straight truck or tractor-trailer equipment to transport material to designated location in a timely manner. Will need to display a professional and courteous attitude with customers and team members. May also operate loader to load material into truck box.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to use tablets, CBs, and other electronic devices to maintain logs and communications
  • Able to work independently and under time constraints.
  • General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent
  • A CDL Class A (tractor-trailer) or CDL Class B (straight truck) license.
  • Must have and maintain medical card and acceptable driving record and required endorsements
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime, possible nights and some Saturdays.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference given for experience driving a belly dump, lowboy, lowboy, tanker or straight truck
  • 2-5 years construction driving experience

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Class A or B truck to transport asphalt or aggregate to job site often times driving on uneven or unfinished surface
  • Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition
  • Maintains driver log according to ICC regulations as required
  • May operate loader to load aggregate into truck box
  • Daily maintenance of equipment such as cleaning truck inside and out, greasing, oiling, brakes, lights and any other maintenance instructed to perform
  • Recognize surroundings and practice traffic awareness to maintain a safe environment
  • Assist with plant maintenance, repairs, set up and take downs
  • Tarp load when needed
  • Clean spilled material/buildup off box (spill chutes, belts, side boards, etc.)
  • Verify that gates are closed
  • Complete load tickets
  • Assist construction crews while waiting to unload
  • Spread product
  • Maintain proper information in truck cab pouch
  • Report information accurately and completely on daily timecards, truck cab information and other needed paperwork
  • Ensure MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
  • Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
