About The Position

Immediate opening for a SOLO Class A CDL Truck Driver. Ryder is looking for the right Trucker to join them in Hammond, IN. They are offering a program to help Owner Operators switch to Company Driver. Drivers can expect to earn $1900 or more per week, with hourly pay at $30.60 per hour. Overtime is paid after 40 hours. The typical work week is 55+ hours. Per diem pay is $125 per night, with 1-2 nights per quarter occasionally. Paid training is provided. The schedule is Monday – Friday, with weekends off. The start time is 5:00 AM. Trucks are three years or newer. Ryder Drivers service the route, not the truck. All drivers have 24/7 roadside maintenance by a Ryder Trained Technician, and service employees fuel trucks at over 800 maintenance facilities. Deliveries are SOLO to MI, IN, IL, IA, OH, and WI. The tractor type is Sleeper, and the trailer type is 53' Flatbed. Freight is no-touch steel, metals (no coils), channels, tubes, beams, and plates. Load securement involves chaining, binders, and tarping.

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
• Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
• Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
• Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
• Maintaining accurate records and logs
• Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
• Performs other duties as assigned
