About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver for regional routes serving Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Drivers deliver solo using day cabs and sleepers, with the possibility of a 26-foot straight truck. Trailers may include 48- to 53-foot flatbeds, dry vans, reefers, Conestogas, curtainsides, and container equipment. Freight may be touch or no-touch, and drivers may be required to load or unload freight depending on the customer. The position pays $30 per hour, weekly, with overtime after 40 hours. The posting advertises $2,000 or more per week, a $3,000 sign-on bonus, an annual $1,000 tenure bonus, and $50 per night in per diem. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with flexibility required, and includes 40 or more hours per week and overnights in a Ryder-booked hotel or sleeper. Paid training is provided, including training on equipment needed for the job. Ryder provides well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Drivers are empowered to make safety decisions. The role requires compliance with applicable laws and regulations, hazard prevention, accurate recordkeeping, and freight loading or unloading when required.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, motor vehicle check, and DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have a Class A CDL and verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the past 5 years, or 5 years within the past 10 years.
Follow written and/or oral instructions.
Read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Complete any additional screening required for an assigned customer, which may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records checks, a road test, or customer badging or background requirements.

Nice To Haves

One year of flatbed experience.
Hazmat, Tanker, and Doubles/Triples endorsements.
Experience with strapping, chaining, and tarping.
Experience with equipment such as pallet jacks, lift gates, rollers, or Moffett.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading, if required by the customer.
