About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Ocala, Florida, to make solo regional deliveries in Florida and surrounding states. Drivers may operate day cabs or sleepers, with the possibility of a 26-foot straight truck, and pull 48- to 53-foot flatbeds, dry vans, reefers, Conestogas, curtainsides, or containers. Freight may involve touch or no-touch work. Routes may include overnight stays in a Ryder-booked hotel or sleeper. Ryder provides training on required equipment and operates trucks described as 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Pay is weekly at $30 per hour for 40 or more hours per week, with $30 per night in per diem pay. The posting also lists a $1,000 annual tenure bonus, a $2,500 sign-on bonus paid in two installments, and paid training. The schedule is Monday through Friday, and flexibility is required. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Nice To Haves

One year of flatbed experience is preferred.
Hazmat, Tanker, and Doubles/Triples endorsements are preferred.
Experience with strapping, chaining, and tarping is preferred.
Experience with a pallet jack, lift gate, rollers, or Moffett is preferred.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
