About The Position

Ryder is hiring a solo regional Class A CDL truck driver based in Columbus, Ohio. The driver delivers tire freight to Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, and upstate New York; New York City and Pennsylvania are excluded. The freight is touch freight, with a dry van 53-foot trailer. Drivers use sleeper tractors equipped with refrigerators and inverters. Ryder provides training on the equipment needed for the job and operates trucks described as 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a 7:00 AM–5:00 PM start-time window. Pay is weekly and includes mileage, stop, per diem, and touch-freight pay, plus an annual tenure bonus. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle meeting one of these alternatives: 9 months within the past 3 years, 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Some positions may require additional screening, which may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records checks and a road test, and/or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

Deliver tire freight on regional routes to OH, MI, IN, KY, WV, and upstate NY; NYC and PA are excluded.
Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading when required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
