Requirements

  • High School diploma (or equivalent).
  • 2-4 years of experience.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with customers and colleagues at delivery points.
  • Ability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commercial driver's license (CDL Class A) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting shipping orders.
  • Preparing estimates for freight rates, shipping charges, and tariffs.
  • Preparing bills of lading, invoices, and other relevant documents.
  • Scheduling and negotiating transportation of products or materials.
  • Operating a semi-truck or trailer according to applicable federal and state/provincial transportation laws and regulations.
  • Transporting loads safely and in a timely manner over specified routes, obeying all traffic and freight-carrier regulations and laws.
  • Assisting with loading or unloading of products or materials, using specialized equipment when warranted.
  • Unloading empty pallets and returning all equipment to designated areas.
  • Delivering relevant documentation to the shipping office or appropriate colleague upon completion of the delivery route.
  • Completing routine service on trucks, which may include checking fluids, fuel, and air.
  • Reporting all maintenance issues and malfunctions.
  • Arranging trailers in shipping yards for optimum loading patterns.
  • Potentially providing assistance and training to junior colleagues.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
