About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A Truck Driver in Schenectady, New York. This is a local, home-daily company driving position delivering solo to Piscataway, New Jersey, and Buffalo, New York. Drivers transport paper rolls as no-touch freight using a day-cab tractor and a 48-foot doubles trailer. A doubles endorsement is required.

The position pays $30.50 per hour, with approximately 60 hours per week and stated weekly pay of $2,135. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday, with dispatch between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Paid training is provided. Drivers use well-maintained trucks and have access to 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at Ryder maintenance locations.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position; a doubles endorsement is required.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

• Deliver freight solo to Piscataway, New Jersey, and Buffalo, New York.
• Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading, if required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
