About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Sarasota, FL — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career you can feel good about. This position offers weekly pay, with an average of $1070 - $1284 or more per week. The hourly pay is $26.77 per hour plus a $5.36 per hour Health & Welfare Stipend. Drivers can expect to work approximately 40-42 hours per week, Sunday through Saturday, with Wednesdays off. The start time varies. This is a local delivery route within a 150-mile radius of Sarasota, FL, where drivers will deliver SOLO. The trailer type is a 48' & 53' Dry Van, and the freight is touch freight (US Mail). Trucks are 36 months or newer and include 24/7 Roadside Maintenance. Ryder provides a comprehensive benefits package with no waiting period, including Medical, Dental & Vision after 30 days, 80 hours of PTO in the first year (starting Day 1), uniforms, cell phone, and boot allowance. Drivers are empowered to make safety decisions with job protection. Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
  • Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
  • Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
  • A secondary background screen - Federal Level 2 conducted by the USPS to allow access to premises and/or to provide contractual services
  • Selective Service registration for males born after December 31, 1959, unless there is a legal exemption

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
  • Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
  • Maintaining accurate records and logs
  • Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
  • Performs other duties as assigned
