About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Sarasota, FL — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career you can feel good about. This position offers weekly pay of $1070 - $1284 or more per week, with an hourly rate of $26.77 per hour plus a $5.36 per hour Health & Welfare Stipend. Drivers typically work 40-42 hours per week, Tuesday through Saturday, with Mondays off. The start time varies. The role involves SOLO delivery within a 150 Air Mile radius of Sarasota, FL, operating a Day Cab tractor and a 48' & 53' Dry Van trailer, handling US Mail freight. Trucks are 36 months or newer and include 24/7 Roadside Maintenance. Ryder provides comprehensive benefits after 30 days, including Medical, Dental & Vision. Drivers receive 80 hours of PTO in their first year, which can be used or paid out. Uniforms, cell phone, and boot allowance are provided. Drivers are empowered to make safety decisions with job protection. A 401(k) rollover is available, with company match after 1 year. Paid maternity leave of 12 weeks is offered (subject to eligibility). Employee discounts on various items are also available. For employment on this account, the United States Postal Service (USPS) requires a secondary background screen (Federal Level 2) and Selective Service registration for males born after December 31, 1959, unless exempt. Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
  • Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
  • Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
  • A secondary background screen - Federal Level 2 conducted by the USPS to allow access to premises and/or to provide contractual services
  • Selective Service registration for males born after December 31, 1959, unless there is a legal exemption

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
  • Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
  • Maintaining accurate records and logs
  • Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
  • Performs other duties as assigned
