About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL regional truck driver in West Coxsackie, New York. The position delivers solo to New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. Drivers operate day-cab tractors pulling 53-foot dry vans and make tailgate deliveries of mattresses. Trucks are described as well-maintained and safe, 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, with dispatch starting between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. The posting lists 50 hours per week, 1,826 solo miles and 12 stops per week, and three overnight stays per week in hotels booked by Ryder. Drivers are expected to comply with applicable laws and regulations, maintain accurate records and logs, identify and address safety hazards, and load or unload freight or assist with those tasks when required by the customer. Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some positions may require additional screening, which may include employment and education verification, a motor vehicle records check and road test, and/or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading if required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
