About The Position

Ryder is seeking a Class A CDL Regional Truck Driver for an immediate opening in Kansas City, KS. This position offers consistent freight and competitive pay, with drivers averaging $2100+ per week and top 10% earning over $115k annually. Drivers are paid weekly, with a base hourly rate of $26.00, plus an additional $1 for every 3 certifications/endorsements, and overtime paid after 40 hours. A per diem of $50.00 per night is provided for overnights, with Ryder-booked hotels or sleeper accommodations. The role includes paid travel and paid training. A tenure bonus of $1000 is paid annually. Freight is a mix of touch and no-touch, with product varying. The schedule is Monday-Friday, requiring flexibility. Drivers operate trucks that are three years or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling services provided by Ryder. Routes are solo deliveries to states including IL, WI, MO, MN, KS, IA, NE, ND, and SD. Equipment includes Day Cab and Sleeper tractors, with a possibility of a 26' Straight Truck, and various trailer types such as 48'-53' Flatbed, Dry Van, Reefer, Conestoga, Curtainside, and Container. Tools for load securement like strapping, tarping, and chaining are used, along with manual pallet jacks, rollers, lift gates, and Moffetts.

Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
  • Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
  • Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
  • Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
  • Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
  • Maintaining accurate records and logs
  • Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
  • Performs other duties as assigned
