About The Position

The Truck & Coach Technician will be responsible for adjusting, repairing, or replacing parts and components of commercial transport truck systems, truck-trailer systems, and automotive systems. This role involves inspecting and testing mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions, discussing findings with a supervisor, and road testing vehicles. The technician will also perform scheduled maintenance, estimate parts and labor costs, and advise customers on work performed and future repair needs. Additionally, the role includes coaching apprentices and providing customer service.

Requirements

  • No degree, certificate or diploma required.
  • Must have 5 years or more of work experience in the same occupation.
  • Must be willing to work onsite and understand that relocation costs are not covered by employer.
  • Must be able to provide a Criminal record check.
  • Must have a Valid driver's licence.
  • Must be able to work in a Fast-paced environment, have Hand-eye co-ordination, Attention to detail, and Manual dexterity, and be able to stand for extended periods.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Must have Accuracy, Client focus, Dependability, Excellent oral communication, Excellent written communication, Flexibility, Judgement, Reliability, Team player, and Punctuality.
  • Must be able to communicate in English.

Responsibilities

  • Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems
  • Confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unit
  • Discuss work with supervisor
  • Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions
  • Inspect motor in operation
  • Review work orders
  • Road test motor vehicles
  • Test automotive systems and components
  • Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems
  • Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems
  • Repair or replace mechanical units or components
  • Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's specifications
  • Estimate parts and labour cost to perform vehicle maintenance and repairs
  • Perform scheduled maintenance service
  • Test and adjust units to specifications
  • Advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements
  • Complete reports to record problems and work performed
  • Coach and instruct apprentices
  • Provide customer service
