The Trip Pilot is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel and its tow. This includes safe navigation and piloting, ensuring the seaworthiness of the vessel and its tows, the safety of the crew and passengers, environmental protection, and cargo protection. The role also involves charterer relations, bridge administration, crew supervision, and on-the-job training. Key duties include safe piloting, navigation, and maintenance in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, operational management as directed by the Master/Relief Master, standing bridge and helm watches, and directing the deck crew. The Trip Pilot must maintain professional relationships with charterers while prioritizing the company's safety and commercial goals. Administrative tasks related to bridge management and human resources are also required.
