About The Position

This position is responsible for coordinating TRIO program services and activities that support student success. Key areas include academic support, goal setting, tutoring, peer mentoring, cultural enrichment, financial literacy, educational workshops, technology access, and transfer planning to four-year institutions. The goal of this role is to enhance student retention, graduation rates, and successful transfer outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • One (1) year of experience in tutoring, advising and/or educational support in a college setting.
  • One (1) year of experience working with low-income, first generation and/or disabled students.
  • One (1) year of student (or customer) service experience.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and supervisory abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer applications with the ability to maintain databases and generate reports.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in education, psychology, or related field.
  • Experience in administering and interpreting academic and career assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide holistic support to first-generation, low-income (Pell-eligible), and students with documented disabilities to ensure a seamless transition through college, including academic advising and transfer assistance to four-year institutions.
  • Assist the TRIO SSS Program Manager with recruitment strategies and the identification and selection of eligible program participants.
  • Coordinate the delivery of comprehensive support services, including new student orientations, academic workshops, financial literacy programming, cultural enrichment activities, and campus visits to four-year colleges and universities.
  • Serve as the primary academic advisor for a designated caseload of program participants, providing guidance in major exploration, academic planning, course selection, and monitoring progress toward degree completion.
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager and other campus departments to develop partnerships that enhance student retention, academic success, and graduation outcomes.
  • Oversee the TRIO tutoring and mentoring program, including the recruitment, training, and supervision of peer tutors and mentors.
  • Refer students to appropriate on-campus academic and student support resources as needed to ensure comprehensive wraparound support.
  • Assist the Program Manager in preparing and submitting the Annual Performance Report (APR), compiling academic progress data, and conducting program evaluations using spreadsheets, institutional databases, and other reporting tools.
