About The Position

The Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska is seeking an experienced, results-driven Tribal Administrator to provide executive leadership and operational oversight for our tribal government, programs, and enterprises. This is an opportunity for a proven leader who understands the unique responsibilities of tribal governance, values community, and has a demonstrated record of success in Indian Country. We are looking for someone who can translate vision into action, build strong teams, improve organizational performance, and help position the Tribe for continued growth and success. Our Tribal Administrator will be a strategic thinker, an effective communicator, and a highly capable administrator who can navigate the complexities of tribal government while honoring the culture, values, and sovereignty of the Iowa Tribe.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field OR equivalent experience
  • 5–10+ years of leadership experience in administration, operations, or government
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple departments and priorities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • High level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Ability to work independently and lead others
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in related field
  • Experience working within tribal government or similar structure

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of tribal departments and enterprises
  • Perform supervisory and management responsibilities of assigned departments
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed and implemented consistently
  • Coordinate with department leaders on performance, priorities, and needs
  • Conduct regular meetings with supervisors to ensure alignment and accountability
  • Support development of short- and long-range tribal goals
  • Translate Executive Committee direction into operational action
  • Monitor progress toward goals and adjust as needed
  • Review program and enterprise budgets for accuracy and sustainability
  • Ensure compliance with tribal, federal, and state requirements
  • Interpret financial data and prepare reports for leadership
  • Review monthly financials to ensure accountability
  • Monitor performance of tribal programs and businesses
  • Support improvements in efficiency and effectiveness
  • Ensure alignment with tribal priorities and community impact
  • Partner with HR on hiring strategies and personnel policies
  • Support leadership in workforce planning and employee management
  • Ensure consistent application of policies and procedures
  • Prepare reports for Executive Committee and General Council
  • Communicate operational updates clearly and consistently
  • Support informed decision-making through accurate data
  • Support development and improvement of policies and procedures
  • Maintain organized documentation and reporting systems
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
