About The Position

Zurich North America Claims is seeking a Trial Attorney for a hybrid role in their Boston, MA office. This position involves representing commercial insureds of a financially stable insurance carrier, handling moderate to high complexity General Liability and Commercial Auto personal injury cases. The role requires preparing and trying cases, conducting investigations, providing legal analysis and advice, filing legal documents, performing legal research, managing pre-trial discovery, handling hearings and trials, and conducting post-trial activities. The candidate must demonstrate strong case analysis, trial, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work independently. Proficiency in computer skills for remote team-based work, including video conferencing and task management systems, is essential.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree.
  • 5 or more years of experience in Insurance Litigation.
  • Active member in good standing with the Massachusetts Bar Associations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe.
  • Experience working with Lexis or Westlaw.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims, and the insurance defense litigation legal environment.
  • Knowledge of the law and procedure.
  • Demonstrated case analysis ability.
  • Proven trial and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and without substantial supervision.
  • Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Representing commercial insureds in General Liability and Commercial Auto personal injury cases of moderate to high complexity.
  • Preparing and trying cases.
  • Conducting initial investigations and providing legal analysis and advice.
  • Preparing and filing legal pleadings and documents.
  • Performing legal research.
  • Preparing for and conducting pre-trial discovery.
  • Preparing for and aggressively handling hearings and trials.
  • Conducting post-trial activities where appropriate.
  • Handling remote team-based work using video conferencing, task assignments, and other computer-based systems.
