About The Position

Landis C. Deck & Sons, a division of H&K Group, Inc., is seeking experienced and motivated CDL drivers. The role emphasizes reliability and attentiveness, with daily responsibilities that include maintaining a truck log and keeping trucks in proper condition. Drivers perform deliveries while following MSHA and H&K safety policies and applicable state and federal regulations.

The position is based within the Landis C. Deck & Sons Division, which is based in Bernville, Pennsylvania, and provides heavy civil site construction services across the Berks, Schuylkill, Northumberland, Lebanon, and Lancaster County region. H&K offers training and supervisory support to help employees develop and grow.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, such as a GED, from an accredited educational institution.
• Class A CDL and one year of commercial driving experience, or Class B CDL and one year of triaxle driving experience.
• Valid medical card.
• Clean driving record.
• Customer service and teamwork skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to fit test for and use appropriate personal protective equipment as needed.
• Ability to meet relevant physical requirements, including movement and lifting.

Nice To Haves

• Three years of commercial driving experience.
• Strong preference for three years of triaxle driving experience.
• Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
• TWIC card with Class A CDL.
• Experience in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries.
• MSHA, OSHA, or other relevant safety certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform all work in accordance with MSHA and H&K safety policies.
• Drive the truck to its destination.
• Prepare receipts for load pickup.
• Maintain the truck log according to state and federal regulations and company policy.
• Maintain telephone or radio contact with a supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
• Load and unload the truck.
• Inspect truck equipment and supplies, including tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks.
• Tarp loads when travel on public roads is necessary.
• Trim loads before tarping when necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
