About The Position

The Homestead of Denison is seeking a professional and compassionate Treatment Nurse LVN | RN to provide primary skin care to residents under the medical direction and supervision of attending physicians, the Director of Nursing, or the Medical Director. The role emphasizes the treatment and therapy of skin disorders and involves assisting in modifying treatment regimens to meet resident needs. The position is part of a compassionate and dedicated care team focused on providing exceptional care to patients and residents.

Requirements

Nursing degree from an accredited college or university, or be a graduate of an approved Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) program.
Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.
Be a supportive Team Member and contribute to and be an example of Team work and concept.
Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
Ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
Demonstrate patience, tact, cheerful disposition, enthusiasm and have the capability and soft skills to handle difficult residents.
Seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices.
Relate information concerning a resident’s conditions.
Not pose a direct threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace.
Able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds to a minimum height of five feet and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of fifty feet.
May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.

Responsibilities

Provide primary skin care to residents under medical direction and supervision.
Assist in modifying treatment regimens to meet physical and psychosocial needs.
Confer with the Director of Nursing Services regarding dermatologic disorders.
Consult with the Care Planning Team on assessment evaluations and skin care treatment plans.
Initiate requests for consultation or referral and respond to requests from residents, physicians, or nursing staff.
Examine residents and medical records to identify and assess skin conditions.
Complete medical forms, reports, evaluations, and charting.
Implement and maintain policies and procedures related to skin care treatments.
Provide verbal and written reports to attending physicians, Medical Director, or DON.
Identify, manage, and treat specific skin disorders and lesions.
Provide assessment and diagnostic services, including quarterly physical dermatologic examinations.
Provide therapeutic services and treatment for uncomplicated dermatologic disorders.
Ensure residents with decubitus ulcers receive appropriate prophylaxis and treatment.
Provide direct physical and psychological nursing care in emergencies and during illness/disability.
Assist in resident rehabilitation activities, including range of motion and ambulation.
Conduct preventive health care services and make recommendations to residents.
Provide information to residents and families on prevention techniques and health improvement.
Complete and file required recordkeeping forms and charts.
Document reports of accidents/incidents involving residents.
Complete routine charting duties.
Record verbal and telephone orders from practitioners.
Participate in in-service training classes concerning dermatologic nursing skills.
Participate in educational programs for residents and families related to skin care.
Attend and participate in annual facility in-service training programs.
Attend and participate in advance directive in-service training programs.
Attend and participate in continuing education programs.
Assist in monitoring inventory of medications, medical supplies, and equipment.
Use personal protective equipment appropriately.
Wear and/or use safety equipment when moving or lifting residents.
Maintain lists of equipment repairs or needs.
Recommend equipment and supply needs to the Charge Nurse/Nurse Supervisor.
Ensure safety data sheets (SDSs) are on file for hazardous chemicals.
Participate in the development and implementation of procedures for safe operation of nursing services equipment.
